"The artist is always engaged in writing a detailed history of the future because he is the only person aware of the nature of the present." – Wyndham Lewis

The Experimental Party
– the artist-based political party

As a nation and a Party, we must continue to move forward in the 21st century. We must work to incorporate the avant-garde and the spirit of experimentalism into the fabric of our nation. The history of our next hundred years must emerge from the rich mosaic of alternative culture, from the lofts of San Francisco to the barrios of New York City. The Experimental Party is America's last, only hope to bridge the divisions of class, race, region, religion, ethnicity, and sexual orientation.

We will fail if we continue to embrace the principles perpetuated by our current Government of crackpots - the principles of arrogance, abuse of power, personal gain and a frightening lack of charisma. The Experimental Party is committed to a conception of art revolutionized to such a degree that it becomes a politically productive force, coursing through each person, re-ordering the senses, intoxicating the mind, re-shaping the present, in order to meet the tough challenges of tomorrow.

A Call-To-Action

The Experimental Party is a Total Artwork - collective, united, whole, intensive - and its Platform is a living work-in-progress that expresses our commitment to creating meaningful and enduring change in the political process. Our Party's first priority is to the artist - in contrast to a system extolling exploitation, consumption, corruption, and greed - who picks up the message of cultural and technological challenge decades before its transforming impact occurs. We believe in the power of culture, independent thinking and artist-driven government. We believe in empowering the experimental and the disenfranchised. We offer hope a call-to-action.

Platform Preamble

As the post 9-11, post-apocalyptic, post-information era has dawned, we look back with somber reflection at how we have been as a people and a society. Realizing our actions will be judged by future generations, we ask how, with exalted aspirations, we can renew the best of the avant-garde, calling forth a spirit of change and participation that speaks for a free and experimental society. We believe the artist is indispensable in the shaping and analysis and understanding of the life of forms and structures brought about by digital means in our increasingly technological culture. Basic to this system of values is social interaction, control of technology toward fulfilling human needs, and a belief in the ability of individuals to take responsibility in democratic, non-coercive, non-hierarchical situations. We submit a bold plan for our future, a Platform upon which we can stand.
