This
site was once the main farm for the Hoover family and was
sold as a divestiture of assets shortly after Maytag Corporation's
acquisition of the Hoover Company. The location was used for
company conventions and for a Hoover historical center. The
nature of the development was a topic of heated debate for
some time, and although solved democratically, the Washington
Square project still evokes strong opinions in the minds of
residents.
