Jan Robert Leegte lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. After studying architecture in Delft he graduated at the Art Academy in Rotterdam. It was during the last years at the Art Academy that he began translating his sculptural installations to the internet.
The work aimes to focus beyond the layers of content. Intuitively it tries to gain understanding of the nature of "virtual" materials and space and to relate them to their "physical" counterbodies. The research resulted in a series of abstract net-installations since 1997. Recently he has started to reintroduce his work back into the white cube, only now the materials behind the screen, of which he has grown so fond, have joined him there.
